The Artist's Statement:
The most genuine, valuable and
meaningful expression by an
artist is that which he or she
feels as opposed to what that
artist merely believes or
thinks. Painting for me is an
expression of what I feel about
subject matter, colors,
composition or forms. And, the
wondrous thing about paintings
is the joy and surprise that can
result from serendipitous
interplay of colors and textures
and forms. My painting is also
a response to vivid impressions
from travel in over forty-four
countries – from the spiritual
nature of Japanese temple rock
gardens to lush oases in
Sahara desert sand seas to the
colors of underwater aquatic
life in the Caribbean. Inspiration
for my artwork comes from
nature in all its forms – mineral,
wood, floral, birds, animal and
aquatic life. I make use of
design principles of contrast,
rhythm, repetition and, where
appropriate, introduce rich
sensuality or humor into my
